On March 5, a high-ranking delegation of university professors from four Japanese universities visited the office of family law expert Dr. Alfred R. Kriegler for an official consultation.

The specific occasion was the recent joining by Japan of the “Agreement regarding the kidnapping of children of The Hague”.

The Japanese university delegation was led by Dean Suhei Ninomiya from the Ritsumeikan University Law School and professor Ms. Fujiko Sakakibara from Waseda University. Dr. Alfred R. Kriegler provided important information to the delegation about the legal status in Austria regarding guardianship procedures as well as advice based on his extensive professional experience. The discussions lasted for three hours and represent an important contribution to the high-level exchange of ideas between Japan and Austria.
